Civil Rights press conference in Bowling Green, a family looking for answers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A mother and family still mourning, hoping to receive some kind of information.

Family and friends gathered on Tuesday at the Warren County Justice Center to illustrate their search for answers in the death of Esteban Lowery.

Lowery died on July 6, 2023 after a shooting incident involving officer Matt Davis of the Bowling Green Police Department. According to BGPD, Lowery shot Davis nine times inside of Car-Mart on Russellville Road.

When reinforcements arrived on the scene, Lowery was unresponsive and was reported dead later in the day, but that’s not enough for Lowery’s family, according to his mother.

Lori Lowery spoke to News 40 today and reported that no information has been given to her or the rest of the family regarding Esteban Lowery’s death, and they are still seeking answers.

News 40 also spoke to a Civil Rights activist working with the family, who said he is “relentless” with his efforts in pursuing justice and assured the public he will be working hard to obtain any information he can.

The Kentucky State Police released the following statement regarding the ongoing investigation:

“Timelines to complete investigations vary based on the complexity of the case. As is normal procedure, on Aug. 6, KSP submitted the case for review to the Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney. KSP will not be able to release further information as it could hinder the judicial process.”

News 40 has reached out to Kentucky State Police officials in charge of the investigation, but there has not been a response just yet.
