Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Glasgow
GLASGOW, Ky. – Two people are facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Glasgow.
According to a uniform citation, around 1:30 p.m., the Glasgow Police Department observed a male with an active warrant driving through the intersection of West Main and Outer Loop on Thursday.
Police say they conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and asked Sabatino Basile, 32 of Glasgow, to exit the vehicle.
A female passenger, identified as Heather Basile, 38, was detained after police say she was holding a bag of pills in her hand.
After searching the vehicle, police say they located a suspected fentanyl pill on the top center console. Police say the pill was only a couple of feet from two young children sitting in the back seat.
Basile also possessed over $350 in cash.
Both Sabatino Basile and Heather Basile were arrested and transported to the Barren County Detention Center.
Sabatino Basile was charged with probation violation, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified), first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl).
Heather Basile was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified), first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), promoting contraband – fentanyl, carfentanil or derivative, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia – buy/possess.
