Contractors Licensing Office urges caution when hiring
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One Bowling Green man is filing a complaint over contracted work and wants to warn others to be careful.
News 40 spoke to Heng Keo who in July of 2023 received a “cold call” from a company by the name of WarDogs Outdoor Services from whom he was sold a solar panel system that he now regrets. Keo said what he currently has is not what he was promised over the phone.
He brought his grievance to the Contractor Licensing Office in Bowling Green and has for the past year been arguing his case. Speaking to the Executive Director of the office, Holly Warren, she said the issue is not the equipment itself but what was relayed to Keo over the phone. Warren said that the company had promised things that could not be delivered on in this specific case due to a variety of factors like Kentucky’s climate and how local utility companies operate.
Warren said they’ve been in contact with the Texas Attorney General’s office who has reached out to the construction company, yet are running into a little red tape. The construction company has given word to the attorney general that the sales company is who they should be addressing as they are separate entities, yet Warren said after some research, she’s found that the sales company is an assumed name of the construction company, essentially making them one in the same.
Warren’s message to home owners is to do ample research as well as reach out to local contractors who know the area and the logistics of what is and is not possible with projects.
