Kentucky Fish & Wildlife gives water safety tips for boaters
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With the recent increase in water rescues, Kentucky Fish & Wildlife is urging you to be safe while on the water.
ALWAYS wear a life jacket and make sure it fits you. If you’re at the pool, make sure to keep an eye on toddlers or smaller children to prevent them from drowning.
If you’re hanging out near a creek or river, make sure to watch for the current to avoid going against it.
If you’re at the lake, make sure to know how deep the water is if something were to happen.
There are plenty of ways to make sure you’re safe while having fun at the same time.
“There’s a lot of swimming lessons that are taught within our local community at the YMCA, the Red Cross also has online classes that are free of charge… and as I said before, always use safety when you’re out here on the water… we’d hate for a fun weekend to turn into a tragic event,” Cody Fox, a Game Warden with Kentucky Fish & Wildlife says.
You can visit Kentucky Fish & Wildlife’s website to learn more tips before you head out to the lake this summer.
