Influx of scam calls in Warren County
WARREN COUNTY, Ky – The Warren County Sheriff’s office is alerting the community to a new scam alert.
Victims of calls are confronted with “missing a court date” and having to pay money to an “officer” to avoid arrest.
The callers are hostile and will try to keep you on the phone. The caller ID for the scam also matches the one of WSCO, (270)-842-1633 through VoIP.
The “officer” on the call will use real names and badge numbers from the department to make it more believable. The scammers could be from anywhere in the world, using apps that police cannot always track.
“We will NEVER call you regarding missing a court date or the issuance of a warrant, nor can you settle court fees or warrants by sending cash/gift cards/Bitcoin/any other crypto-currency to someone via any app (PayPal, CashApp, Venmo), ATM, kiosk, or US Mail,” said WSCO.
Never give out personal or financial information over the phone. It is important to stay vigilant and continue to report scam calls to WSCO.
