Tennessee child dies after being swept into storm drain

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – A Rutherford County, Tennessee child has died following critical injuries from being swept into a storm drain.
According to a public social media post by his father, Rutherford County superintendent Dr. Jimmy Sullivan, Asher was declared officially dead around 1:20 p.m. Saturday, May 18.
Asher was severely injured 10 days prior when he was swept into a storm drain following storms in the area.
Over the past 36 hours, Asher’s father stated his child’s condition further worsened leading up to the official declaration on Saturday afternoon.
Asher’s father stated there will be an honor walk at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the coming days to celebrate his son as a hero for being an organ donor.
The school district stated it has no doubt the community will continue to provide support for the family during this time.
