Edmonson County Water District addresses concerns

BROWNSVILLE, Ky. – If you’re a resident of Edmonson County, you’ve probably heard about the issues going on at the water department. Residents say there have been some unsafe drinking water conditions.

That’s why new manager Kevin Shaw decided to hold a town hall.

The community gathered at the Brownsville Community Center to voice concerns about their water service.

Representative Michael Meredith also awarded $6.5 million in funding to the Water District to help make life a bit easier for residents by installing a diesel pump that will help filter the water.

However, Shaw says the one word he needs the community to understand is trust.

“I feel like that confidence has fallen, and it hasn’t always been that way. We need that confidence back and them believing in the employees. We’ve got a great bunch of employees, and they just got to believe they’re going to take care of them,” he says.

Shaw also says he was overall satisfied with how the town hall went, mentioning they plan to use some of the funding from Representative Meredith to partner with Grayson County for emergency services in the region.
