“A big win for BG,” Site Selection Magazine ranks Bowling Green No. 1 in economic development
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – At the National Corvette Museum, many elected officials and business leaders gathered Thursday to celebrate Bowling Green reaching No. 1 status.
Site Selection Magazine has named Bowling Green #1 in the nation for economic development for communities with a population of less than 200,000.
Speaking to many officials, they all say it’s just a matter of teamwork. Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce president Ron Bunch said that Bowling Green has a “special sauce” that isn’t anywhere else in the state.
Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman was present as well, who said she brags on Bowling Green any time she can.
Coleman said that the chamber “gets it”, and that their partnership with businesses as well as the local school systems is paramount to the success to Bowling Green sees in it’s growth.
As Bowling Green continues to grow, the plan is to prepare for the city to double in size by 2050 and it’s not an easy task. Bunch said that chamber and Warren County judge-executive Doug Gorman are working to more accurately gauge the population growth, and it appears it will be much sooner than 2050, but the question is exactly when.
