WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Many people from across the world call south central Kentucky home, but it is often difficult to see exactly how many of them get here.

Estrella Salceiro was living in Atlanta with her family after immigrating from Cuba. They were unhappy living with low-wage jobs in an urban area and yearned to be under open skies in a rural place. That is when they heard about the South Central Workforce Development Board here in Bowling Green.

Ana Sancristoful, the New American Workforce navigator at the SCWDB, says she was able to get all of Salceiro’s family hired.

“Estrella and her family were at this time living in Atlanta, Georgia. So it was the logistic was incredible. And this was a big challenge for us because it was not only to find a job for our family, for the for member of this family is to find a job and the same place and in the same time because they had to move together in one time,” Sancristoful said.

Now Salceiro works at the new Tyson facility in Warren County, through a translator she spoke about the many opportunities it as given to her and her family and how much better they love being here in south central Kentucky.

“So being in Atlanta, you know, it’s a big city full of opportunities. But they were kind of just finding jobs wherever they could and their country for. So it’s kind of Bowling Green. It’s very peaceful. And it brought that that same tranquility,” Salceiro said.

She continued to speak about how much Tyson has allowed her to live freely.

“Someone once said success comes when opportunity and knowledge unites together. Tyson does just that when they open the door so you can come in. They gave you the resources to achieve what you want. That’s why I would say that Tyson means success and opportunity,” Salceiro said.
