Banners honor veterans in downtown Glasgow
GLASGOW Ky. – The Barren County Veterans Association and the City of Glasgow together found a way to honor local veterans.
The idea came to Matt Muller, president of the BCVA, from other cities that have done similar tributes, and he pitched the idea to mayor Henry Royse. They were able to find a multitude of different veterans from different times and branches of service that could be placed on banners in downtown Glasgow.
“I’ve received numerous phone calls, text messages, wanting to know how they can get their family members or friends on a banner. And this is hopefully this will be something that we will continue after Veterans Day,” Muller said.
The tribute seems to be going over very well, and the practice may continue well past Veterans and Memorial Day. Royse sees this as a fitting way to show appreciation to the veterans of Barren County.
“People are really enjoying the scene. People who were from here honored, honored for their service. Families are just tickled to death. And it’s a it’s an entire genre of of soldiers from different wars,” Royse said.
