Concert Controversy: Tobacco and Heritage Festival
LOGAN COUNTY Ky. – Controversy has clouded the beginning and now the end of the Logan County Tobacco and Heritage Festival after the closing headliner pulled out of the festival amidst calls for protest over his performance.
Local country music rising star Adam Mac took to social media to give his reasoning for pulling out of the performance.
“It was made aware to me that there were people in the town that were very upset that they would have a gay person headlining the festival. I think the best move forward is to cancel the show and let them book someone else who will not be as controversial. I guess I’m really sad about it.” Mac said.
Some residents of Logan County are very upset at those who called for a protest of Mac’s performance. Residents such as Brian Preston, owner of Roxanne’s Place in Downtown Auburn. The openly welcoming and gay friendly dive bar is a place for all people to gather and enjoy themselves in the vision of the owner. Preston’s response to the news is bewilderment.
“I mean, it’s 20, 23. We can’t do this. We are better people. The people of Logan County don’t represent who cancelled him.” Preston said.
