Cheap flights are returning for fall

(CNN) – If you’re dumbfounded by the sky-high prices of air travel, you’re not alone. But relief is on the way.

End-of-summer discount fares, which disappeared over the past few years amid frenzied demand, are making a comeback.

According to an analysis from the travel app Hopper, the lowest airline prices going into fall are cheaper than they were previously.

The analysis found autumn fares are 9% less expensive than last year and 10% cheaper than 2019.

Ticket prices for September and October are 29% less expensive than the average prices for peak domestic summer travel.

Jet-Blue ran a promotion recently for one-way fares starting at $39 for flights from New York to Charleston and from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

International fare prices have gone down by a similar amount,

There are some cheaper tickets to Europe with American Airlines offering a round-trip fare from New York to Paris this fall for $230.
