Local man dies while hiking at Shanty Hollow Lake, authorities say

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Authorities say a local man is dead after hiking and appearing to have fallen at Shanty Hollow Lake.

Richardsville Fire Department chief Brian Lee confirmed the call came in around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday that a body had been found by hikers.

According to Warren County Sheriff’s Office sheriff Brett Hightower, the man was likely hiking when he fell and hit his head. Hightower says hikers found the body this morning lodged between rocks near a waterfall.

Authorities are not releasing the man’s name at this time.

An autopsy is planned for tomorrow to help investigators determine the exact cause of death.
