Child Victims’ Trust Fund to provide $80,000 to pay for sexual abuse forensic exams
Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear in conjunction with the Child Victims’ Trust Fund announced Tuesday $80,000 in funding to pay for child sex abuse forensic exams in the state’s 15 child advocacy centers.
Advocacy centers provide forensic programs to assist law enforcement and social services in investigating child sexual abuse allegations. The programs include forensic interviews with children and forensic exams.
The Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center in Bowling Green provides those and other services for children in this region.
“Before reaching their 18th birthday, one in 10 children experience child sexual abuse, so every day my team and I are working to prevent this abuse and seek justice for each victim,” Beshear said in a release. “I encourage those who wish to join our mission of preventing child abuse and supporting survivors to consider a donation to the Child Victims’ Trust Fund.”
