Local lifelong Georgia Bulldogs fan at National Championship
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Georgia Bulldogs and the TCU Horned Frogs face off in the 2023 National Championship.
“The national championship, it’s the ultimate goal right, for the players and the fans,” said local man Robert Bowden.
25-year-old Bowden was born a Bulldogs fan, living in Georgia for nearly two decades before moving to Bowling Green.
“Just kinda born into it, my grandfather was a big Georgia fan, my father was a Georgia Bulldogs fan, myself, my extended family, we’re all huge Georgia Bulldogs fans. It’s one of those things that keeps going as time goes on,” said Bowden.
Bowden, his dad and his brother will experience the Bulldogs taking the field and competing for a national championship two years in a row.
“Before this, obviously last year we won, but before that it was 42 years since we won a previous national championship so growing up my dad always thought it would be a pretty awesome experience to go to a national championship, not only himself but with his sons,” said Bowden.
Back in Bowling Green, local sports bars and restaurants are geared up for a big night.
“We’ve got the big TVs, cold beer and good food,” said Double Dogs General Manager Michael Mayes.
With over 30 TVs, you’re sure to catch all the action at Double Dogs.
“Over the years, since 2007 when we opened, people come out for the TVs’, our TVs have gotten bigger and so has the crowd. We enjoy it, we all do,” said Mayes.
