Over 400 motorcyclists ride in Great Teddy Bear Run
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Wheels up! On Saturday morning, over 400 riders gathered downtown for the Great Teddy Bear Run.
The run has historically provided all the teddy bears for the children served by the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center. The non-profit organization serves children who have been victims of child abuse.
Each motorcyclist rode the 13-mile loop around South Central Kentucky with a teddy bear on their bike.
The hundreds of motorcyclists came from not only Bowling Green, but surrounding cities like Glasgow and Nashville as well. This was the first time in three years that the event was held at full capacity.
“Each of these teddy bears, I like to tell people that they represent a child. Because a child that comes and receives services through us, they get to go to the teddy bear room which is where all of these teddy bears go and they get to pick out a bear and take it through the process at the child advocacy center through the journey of healing,” said Community Outreach Coordinator Sabrina Durbin.
If you weren’t able to make it to the event, you can still help out. The advocacy center accepts snack and gift card donations, and they are looking for volunteers and interns.
