Arts for All Kentucky provides non-verbal communication through art

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Arts for All Kentucky is working to include all people one craft at a time.

“Our mission is to provide accessible and inclusive arts programming so that everyone can be involved, to make that a welcoming experience,” said Delaire Rowe, executive director of Arts for All Kentucky.

Since 1987, the organization offers programs on visual arts, literary arts, music, dance and more.

These activities are especially beneficial for those with disabilities and children.

“They may tend to be more isolated and may not have the same opportunities that most of us take for granted,” said Rowe.

Art can be a creative outlet for them to express themselves.

“It’s a nonverbal, sometimes, if you’re talking about visual arts, a nonverbal form of communication. Or it allows them to communicate physically, through movement.”

Arts for All Kentucky serves all 120 counties of the commonwealth, and the hub is located here in Bowling Green.

And a staple at community events, the organization features activities for everyone like the walk up hands-on art at Friday’s Community Block Party.

“We’re gonna be using these paint sticks. These are very easy to use, anyone can do it, just pick a color. We’ll have these available and here you go, you just color it in.”

Their goal is to get enough paintings to end up in a new exhibit.
