City of Bowling Green releases 2018 Citizen Survey
The City of Bowling Green is a great place to live, but its residents are not pleased with traffic. Those are just two takeaways from a bi-annual survey released at Tuesday’s city commission meeting.
The Citizen Survey is completed every two years by Bowling green residents.
The questionnaire was sent out to 1,800 households in the city.
The survey centers on community livability and includes questions about the quality of life in the community, local policies, demographics, rating of local government services and resident use of services.
This year’s survey revealed the following: 46% of respondents say Bowling Green is a good place to live and 45% say it’s an excellent place to live.
The problem area seems to be traffic and transportation. 42% of respondents believe traffic flow in the city is just fair, while 40% say the city has poor public transportation.
Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson says he’s aware of those issues.
"A growing community is always going to have problems," said Wilkerson. "We continue to address those issues. I’d remind people that if a road has a number on it, like US-231, it’s a state responsibility. We will continue to work with them and we are doing some improvements around those areas to try and help on the periphery of what’s going on there."
