48 years of Franklin Sporting Goods
FRANKLIN, KY – John Estep has been in the sporting goods business in Franklin for 48 years, ever since opening the store in 1976.
Estep grew up no stranger to the retail business, as his parents settled into town to open a jewelry store when he was just an infant.
He works with almost all the schools in the area from selling custom uniforms to letter jackets and knows that what customers can get from him at a sporting goods store is better than anywhere else.
“We know our products,” Estep said. “I mean, we know Wilson 2000 gloves likes behind me here. We know that glove is one of the best gloves made and we were schooled on it through our salesman’s, and we realize what the product is. And we know research about it. I can even fix them.”
Estep just recently fixed a first baseman’s glove that was dropped off on a Saturday and picked up by Monday morning. That is just how quickly Estep gets things done at his store.
He said his favorite part about working is the friendships he’s made with his customers, and he is grateful for the constant love and support in his community.
