FRANKFORT, Ky. – On Wednesday, Attorney General Russell Coleman announced that 12 randomly selected counties in Kentucky will undergo an inquiry after the 2024 General Election.

According to a release by Coleman’s office, four of the 12 counties are local counties, including Barren, Warren, Metcalfe and Edmonson counties.

The eight remaining areas include Calloway, Jefferson, Daviess, Jessamine, Boyle, Campbell, Lincoln and Trigg counties, officials say.

“The Attorney General’s Office is committed to ensuring Kentucky’s elections are free, fair and secure,” Coleman said. “Through the collaborative efforts of our county clerks, election officials and law enforcement, Kentuckians can rest assured that the integrity of our elections is vigorously protected.”

The attorney general’s office says it monitors potential election law violations during the year through the Election Fraud Hotline, which can be reached at 800-328-VOTE (800-328-8683). Hotline complaints related to the November 2024 General Election can be viewed here.

Officials say the hotline received over 700 messages, including nearly 350 on Election Day.

After completing independent investigations of the 12 counties, DCI and the attorney general’s Special Prosecutions Unit will present their findings to a grand jury of each audited county, the release says.
