Hart County Backyard Breeding

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – A Horse Cave man is charged with animal cruelty.

According to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, an anonymous tip indicated that a large number of dogs were not being cared for.

Deputies and the Hart County Animal Shelter responded to 1591 Tommy Toms Road to investigate the scene on April 28.

HCSO says 37 dogs were located in unfit conditions.

The owner of the dogs has been charged with animal cruelty, according to HCSO.

According to the Hart County Animal Shelter, the dogs were part of a “backyard breeding situation.”

The dogs were found in kennels covered with feces, some tied to trees, and provided no social interaction.

On April 29, the Hart County Animal Shelter released a statement that said the dogs are now receiving proper medical care.

The shelter says donations are being accepted to help provide continued care.
