30 and counting, dozens of sinkholes pop up in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Outside of the city limits, the Warren County Stormwater Department is tracking around 30 sinkholes and taking calls for more following the terrible flooding the area sustained from April 2 to April 6.

With the karst topography of Warren County, sinkholes are common but are appearing in record numbers after a prolonged deluge of rainfall, brining in almost 11 inches of water.

Nikki Foller, the department’s director, said that in some areas of Warren County, a lot of hills and valleys give way to fallouts, which are unfortunately on many private properties.

The ones that are county responsibility so far add up to the mid-$100,000 range but could grow as water continues to drain.

Foller said if you see something, say something via the stormwater phone line at 270-843-5363 or file a work order on the county website at http://warrencountyky.gov.
