2 injured after collision between CSX train and passenger car

HORSE CAVE, Ky. – Two people were injured on New Year’s Eve after authorities say a train collided with their vehicle in Horse Cave.
According to the Kentucky State Police, shortly before midnight Sunday, a train was traveling south through Horse Cave when a 2006 Ford Fusion tried to cross over the rail road tracks at Guthrie Street as the crossing arms were being lowered.
Troopers say the car was then struck by the train.
Both the driver and passenger of the Ford Fusion were airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries as of Monday.
The current conditions of both individuals have not been released at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.
