2 indicted in car crash death of Scottsville man

ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. – Two women were indicted Thursday in the death of a Scottsville man.
Annissa K. Stanton, 28, of Nashville, Tennessee was indicted at the Allen Circuit Court on charges of murder, operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license, first-degree criminal mischief, failure to wear a seatbelt, speeding 26 mph over or greater, first-degree disorderly conduct, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, reckless driving, disregarding a traffic control device, possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle and illegal possession of alcohol in a dry territory, first offense.
Desiree R. O’Neal, 34, was indicted on charges of second-degree complicity to manslaughter and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
On the morning of Sept. 1, the Scottsville Police Department responded to an injury accident at the intersection of U.S. 31-E and Kentucky Highway 100, where Vernon D. Cooper, 78, of Scottsville sustained fatal injuries.
A 2017 Nissan operated by Stanton was traveling north on US 31-E and failed to stop at a red traffic light at the intersection, according to authorities. Authorities further stated a 2006 Buick operated by Cooper was traveling east on KY 100 and crossed into the path of the Nissan.
Cooper was transported to The Medical Center at Scottsville, where authorities stated he was later pronounced dead by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Stanton is currently held at the Allen County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond. O’Neal is at the same location on a $30,000 cash bond.
