2 charged in Adairville following welfare check on toddler and animals, police say
ADAIRVILLE, Ky. – Two people are facing child endangerment charges after police say a welfare check led to the seizure of at least 35 animals in Adairville.
The Adairville Police Department says it received an anonymous tip for a welfare check Thursday at a residence on North Main Street.
According to a release, police say they encountered hazardous and unacceptable living conditions at the scene, including the smell of decomposition.
Police say permission was given to search the home, which resulted in contact to the Department for Community Based Services, Logan County Sheriff’s Office animal control, the Logan County Animal Clinic and Logan County Humane Society.
Police say DCBS took the child into custody, while the humane society, sheriff’s office animal control unit and animal clinic transported at least 35 animals.
Kyle and Rachel Pomeroy were taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Detention Center.
They are charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor.
