2 charged after reported hit-and-run involving pedestrian in Todd County

ELKTON, Ky. – Two men are charged after an alleged hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in Todd County.

According to a uniform citation, the Todd County Sheriff’s Department responded Saturday to follow up on a hit-and-run investigation involving a pedestrian.

Authorities say a vehicle had hit a pedestrian the night prior and fled the scene.

Deputies say the driver, 37-year-old Abraham Garcia, had been arrested and had stated he was driving a friend home, identified as 23-year-old Israel Garcia of Elkton.

Authorities say Israel Garcia stated his friend had been driving when the vehicle struck a person and kept going. According to deputies, Israel Garcia stated he did not know why they did not stop.

Deputies say the driver admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages before leaving a restaurant the night of the incident.

According to authorities, Abraham Garcia stated he had “hit something” but that he couldn’t see what it was since it was dark outside.

The citation states a parent of the teen victim stated the victim had bruised lungs as a result of being struck.

Abraham Garcia is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance, driving without a license/negligence in accident, no operators moped license and second-degree assault.

Israel Garcia is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance.

Both remain at the Todd County Jail.
