10 homes in 10 weeks- BG Strong Build Blitz

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Amazing news for those whose homes were destroyed in the December tornados. Habitat for Humanity is building 10 homes in 10 weeks.

They’re calling it the BG Strong Build Blitz and it starts on July 25th.

The extremely affordable homes will be built as two, five-unit townhome complexes. They are estimated to be in the $600 a month range.

Families are moved into the homes on October 1st. Families can apply by going to their website here.

65% of the people affected by the tornados were renters, so they hope these homes are a way for people to have a chance at home ownership.

“You know when you hear stories of families whose kids have gone to college or gone to technical school, they’ve gotten good jobs, they’ve broken that cycle of poverty, it even excites me when they sell one of our homes and are able to afford another one and move on to another home. It means they’re doing what we hope for them,” said Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Rodney Goodman.

On October 10th, they will start the same process in Dawson Springs. Those homes will be dedicated on December 10th, the one year anniversary of the tornadoes.
