1 suffers gunshot wound in Logan County, sheriff investigating

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident.

Logan County Sheriff Stephen Stratton says deputies responded to a shots-fired call at 1391 Newtown Road in Russellville on Wednesday evening.

Deputies and officers from the Russellville Police Department discovered a male adult with an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was identified as Marvin Patterson, 62, of New Albany, Indiana.

Patterson was transported and then flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, for injury treatment.

In a release issued Thursday morning, Stratton says Patterson is in critical condition.

Detectives from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and are investigating.

According to a release, detectives have identified the homeowner, Jimmie Gibson, 67, of Russellville, as being involved in the shooting.

Stratton says no arrests have been made and details will be released at a later time.

Stratton says there is no known threat to the public.

The Russellville Police Department and Logan County EMS assisted at the scene.
