1 flown for treatment, 1 charged after shooting in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WKDZ) – One man was injured and another is facing a charge following a shooting in Hopkinsville on Monday afternoon.

That’s according to a report by WKDZ, which states the incident happened on in the parking lot of Bradford Square Mall off of Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Hopkinsville police say just after 3 p.m., an argument occurred between 39-year-old Jamario Johnson and 38-year-old John Walker, resulting in shots being fired, according to WKDZ.

WKDZ further reports one Walker was shot in the leg and groin.

According to WKDZ, Walker reportedly ran behind the mall, with Johnson firing more shots.

Hopkinsville Fire Department spokesman Capt. Payton Rogers says Walker was transported to be flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville due to his injuries, the report states.

Johnson has since been charged with first-degree assault.
