1 dead following camper fire in Upton

UPTON, Ky. – One person is dead following a camper fire.

According to a release, the Upton Fire Department responded to a residential camper fire in the 14700 block of South Dixie Highway in Upton on Saturday morning.

The release states that UFD was notified that one person may still be inside the camper while responding to the scene.

Upon arrival, UFD located flames at the scene.

Fire units suppressed the fire in approximately 15 minutes, according to the release.

During a search of the camper, one victim was located inside.

The Kentucky Fire Marshall’s Office and the Hardin County Coroner’s Office were contacted to respond to the scene.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Kentucky Fire Marshall’s Office.
