1 dead after vehicle hits horse-drawn wagon in Casey Co.

LIBERTY, Ky. – One person is dead after a vehicle reportedly struck a horse-drawn wagon in Casey County.
The Kentucky State Police says troopers responded Tuesday at about 6:24 a.m. to a two-vehicle injury collision on U.S. 127 near the intersection with Kentucky 501 in Casey County.
Authorities say a preliminary investigation determined 20-year-old John Gingerich of Liberty was traveling north on U.S. 127 in a horse-drawn wagon. The wagon was not equipped with rear-facing lights or a slow-moving vehicle reflective placard, according to KSP.
Troopers say a Kia Sedona driven by 33-year-old Jacob Goodman of Columbia was also going north on U.S. 127 when he did not see the wagon and struck the back of it.
Gingerich was transported from the scene to the Casey County Hospital, where troopers say he died due to his injuries. He was pronounced dead by the Casey County coroner.
Goodman was not injured during the collision, however, three juvenile passengers in his vehicle were transported to the Casey County Hospital with minor injuries.
KSP Post 15 Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Casey County Sheriff’s Office, Casey County EMS, Dunnville Fire Department and the Casey County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
