1 dead after collision on Cumberland Parkway in Adair County

GREENSBURG, Ky. – One man is dead following a collision in Adair County.
According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers responded Monday at 6:08 p.m. to a two-vehicle injury collision on the Cumberland Parkway near the 45-mile marker in Adair County.
Authorities say a preliminary investigation revealed 47-year-old Andy Lohden of Smiths Grove was traveling west on the Cumberland Parkway in a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country.
At the same time, troopers say 56-year-old Charles Smith Jr. of Huntington, Tennessee was traveling in the same direction on the Cumberland Parkway in a tractor-trailer and had parked on the right shoulder of the road.
Smith exited his vehicle and was walking in the westbound lane, authorities say, when Lohden’s vehicle struck him.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County coroner.
Lohden was not injured during the collision and declined medical treatment, according to authorities.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair County Fire/EMS and the Adair County Coroner’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing.
