Young students of a local school district to receive tactile enhanced books

GLASGOW, Ky.- Young students in a local school district will be receiving more books for their classrooms, and the goal is to provide more than just reading.

The Barren County Schools special programs applied for a Read Across America grant to purchase popular children’s books and to add tactile features to them.

This means these books provide a way for students to learn through touch in addition to reading. Christa Middleton with the Barren County Schools special programs along with her daughter Kennedy worked to add these features to the books.

The grant was for over 20 books. Middleton said this is a great resource for young students to have.

Every Barren County preschool class will receive these books in a set of three. Kindergarten ECE classes will get them too.
