ADAIRVILLE, Ky. – A Springfield, Tennessee man is celebrating a a $1 million Kentucky Lottery win.

According to a release by the Kentucky Lottery, the man won the top prize from a $1 million Casino Nights Kentucky Lottery Scratch-off ticket.

Jody, who requested not to share his last name, opted to take the game’s $700,000 lump sum cash option, lottery officials say.

He was accompanied by his father to Louisville on June 10 to claim their winnings. His father purchased the ticket at Adairville Market located at 135 South Main St. in Adairville on June 8.

Jody’s father said he picked up the ticket at the counter and planned on scratching it at the store.

“I said [to the clerk], ‘If I hit this million dollars, I ain’t ever eating bologna again,’” the father said.

The top prize was then revealed within the first couple of rows.

Jody’s father said he called Jody immediately after discovering the win to share the news with him.

Jody said his father drove down to his home to show him the ticket, and the pair made plans to drive up to Kentucky Lottery Headquarters on Monday.

The win did not change the rest of that weekend for Jody, though. He said he hopped on his lawnmower and mowed his yard.

“You go home and become debt free,” he said. “Houses are paid off. Cars paid off, done. We will be bill free probably next week.”

As for the winnings, Jody said he plans on investing the money.

In taking the lump sum cash option for the ticket, he went home with a check for $504,000 after taxes. Adairville Market will receive a check for $7,000 for selling the winning ticket.
