World Karting Association rolls into town

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The World Karting Association accelerated toward the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park today.

The association is based in Concord, N.C. Every year, its members travel to different racetracks around the country to see who has the fastest kart.

Everyone hit the track to test out their karts to make sure everything is in working order for the actual races. Most of the karts are handmade by the drivers.

Members of the World Karting Association said the best part is getting to race alongside other kart enthusiasts.

“We all have one goal. Challenging this beautiful track. How fast can we go around it? Every year we come back, we get a little faster. Sometimes the conditions challenge us. When it’s cold like this, we don’t get quite the grip. I like to remind people, we’re all in the same boat together,” said World Karting Association member Denver Liabenow.

Races begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the motorsports park.
