Women’s Fund of Southcentral Kentucky announces $140,000 impact grant
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Since 2013, the Women’s Fund of Southcentral Kentucky has played a huge role in assisting non-profit organizations in the community.
A big way they’ve done that is through their annual impact grant, which has increased every year.
On Thursday evening, the Women’s Fund held “The Big Reveal,” announcing that the 2019 impact grant is $140,000, which is an increase of $13,500 from last year’s grant.
The money will be distributed to four different organizations with the top vote-getter receiving $110,000, while the remaining non-profit groups each receive $10,000.
The finalists for the grant money will be announced on Sept. 17, one of the hardest decisions that members of the Women’s Fund have to make.
“It’s really a hard decision for these volunteers because they see the needs and we don’t have enough money to give to all of them,” said Jennifer Wethingon, executive director of the Women’s Fund. “We have to narrow that down eventually to four. That is one of the toughest jobs that we have as a women’s fund.”
The winners of the large grant will be announced at the Women’s Fund annual dinner on Oct. 22.
Last year, Habitat for Humanity received the $110,000 grant, money which was used to build five new homes in the area.
