Woman wanted in relation to pursuit arrested in Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A wanted woman facing multiple charges related to a pursuit has been apprehended in Simpson County.
According to a uniform citation, the Franklin Police Department says it arrested Shawna L. Suter, 36, of Clarksville, Tennessee on Sept. 25 on a complaint warrant out of Logan County.
Police say they apprehended Suter at a Burger King off of Nashville Road in Simpson County.
The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on October 24, 2023, according to the complaint warrant.
The warrant states a member of the Adairville Police Department said they were patrolling North Main Street in Adairville when they observed a non-illuminated license plate and data of no insurance for a vehicle.
Upon stopping the vehicle at North Main Street and East Gallatin Street, police say they spoke to the driver, who was identified as Suter.
Polices say there was a strong smell of marijuana originating from the vehicle.
While learning the passenger was identified as James E. Goodwin, police say they determined he had an active indictment warrant out of Logan County.
Police say they ordered Goodwin to exit the vehicle, and he did not comply. Suter then recklessly drove the vehicle away, police say.
Suter almost struck the officer with the side of the vehicle during this time, according to the warrant.
Police say they pursued Goodwin and Suter with speeds reaching 108 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone into Robertson County, Tennessee.
At that time, police say they stopped the pursuit due to unsafe conditions.
Suter faces multiple charges, including first-degree wanton endangerment – police officer, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension, obstructing governmental operations, reckless driving, speeding 26 mph or greater over the speed limit, improper passing and disregarding a stop sign.
