Woman shot in hospital parking lot

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is accused of shooting his ex-wife as the two sat in a parking lot at TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital.

Bowling Green police were called at 2:31 a.m. to the hospital parking lot where they met Tami Jolly who said Billy Richards, 54, pointed a firearm at her and shot her while she was sitting in the driver’s seat of his truck, according to Richards’ arrest citation.

Richards told police he had been arguing with Jolly at his Warren County home and then rode in his truck back into town in Bowling Green with Jolly to pick up her vehicle that she had left in the hospital parking lot, according to his arrest citation.

When police arrived at the hospital, Richards said he had taken Jolly inside for treatment and went back outside to move his truck. Police ordered him out of the vehicle, according to the arrest citation.

One of the arresting officers could smell alcohol on Richards and noted that his speech was slurred, according to his citation.

He was charged with first-degree assault domestic violence and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He is lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
