Woman sentenced in DUI death

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Barren County woman who pleaded guilty in September to second-degree manslaughter and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol in a DUI wreck that caused a death was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison.

Lee Ann Tarry, 49, was indicted last year following a wreck in which the car she was driving rear ended a car driven by Shanda Shockley, 24, at the intersection of Veterans Outer Loop and Edmonton Road. Shockley died.

Tarry was originally charged with murder but the charge was amended down when she pleaded guilty.

Monday, Barren Circuit Judge John Alexander sentenced Tarry Monday to 10 years. She was given credit for 660 days served prior to her sentencing. Of those 660 days, 650 were served through home incarceration and 10 days were served in custody, court records show.

Tarry is a hair dresser and her court file includes multiple letters of support from her clients.

Tarry is currently lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
