BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A woman intercepted at an airport before flying to Taiwan has been charged with credit card fraud in Bowling Green, authorities say.

According to the Bowling Green Police Department, on Sept. 25, Lin Jo Yin of Taiwan was taken into custody by Indianapolis International Airport police as she was preparing to fly to Taiwan later that day.

Her arrest stems from a report on Sept. 17, police say, when a local resident reported fraudulent transactions on her bank account had occurred the previous day.

Through an investigation, officers and detectives say they identified Yin as the suspect.

Investigators say they determined Yin obtained the victim’s card information even though the victim still had possession of the card.

Yin remained in the Marion County Jail in Indiana until she was extradited to the Warren County Regional Jail on Oct. 8., according to police.

Yin faces charges of fraudulent use of a credit card, theft of retail merchandise for resale, first-degree unlawful access to a computer, misuse of computer information and receiving goods, etc. by fraud, under $10,000.

The Bowling Green Police Department reminds citizens that fraudulent transactions should be reported to law enforcement, even after the activity has been reported to a financial institution.

“These reports allow investigators to pursue leads, investigate suspected crimes and work to hold those responsible accountable,” the department stated.
