Woman dies following fire at Bath County home

BATH COUNTY, Ky. – A Bath County woman is dead following a house fire on Friday morning.

The Kentucky State Police says on Friday, Jan. 2, it was contacted by Bath County dispatch around 6:30 a.m. requesting assistance with a fatal structure fire.

Authorities say the fire happened on Rooster Run Road.

Troopers, along with the Bath County Sheriff’s Department and Bath County EMS, responded to the scene.

Fire personnel located 77-year-old Josephine Patton of Bethel inside of the home, authorities say.

Patton was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling, where authorities say she died due to her injuries.

Patton was pronounced dead by the Montgomery County coroner.

The investigation remains ongoing.
