Woman accused of embezzling thousands from employer
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Just two months into her employment as an accountant for Eagle Furniture, a Bowling Green woman is accused of embezzling money from the business over a nearly three-year time span.
Susan Sutherland, 56, was charged Thursday afternoon with theft by unlawful taking of more than $10,000 but less than $1 million, according to her arrest citation.
After she left her job, a review of financial records showed payments from a business account to a Capital One account connected to Sutherland, according to her release. Sutherland began working for Eagle Industries in July 2016. The payments to the Capital One account began in September 2016 and continued through August of this year.
At the time of her arrest, police determined that the amount taken exceeded $128,000, according to her citation.
Sutherland declined to speak with police.
She was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. Her bond is set at $50,000.
