WKU volleyball sweeps Jax State to open conference play
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One team on the Hill that saw some action on the road this weekend was the WKU volleyball team, who took a trip down to Jacksonville, Alabama, to kick off its first weekend of conference play with Jax State.
The Lady Tops came out on top, sweeping the Gamecocks on both Friday and Saturday, allowing WKU to notch its fifth consecutive three-set sweep.
Sophomore Izzy Van De Wiele led in kills with 14 on Friday, while freshman Alivia Skidmore took charge on Saturday with 13.
Senior Kenadee Coyle also shined with a hitting percentage over 500 in Saturday’s game with 12 kills and four blocks.
A successful weekend all around for these Lady Tops and here’s how head coach Travis Hudson had to feel about his team’s performance.
“Good. Great start to conference play,” Hudson said. “Anytime you start on the road, it’s hard, and we knew it would be a challenge down in Jacksonville. We played well, we did some good things, and the theme has been the same. We continue to get better and that’s the hope moving forward.”
