WKU Track and Field: Head Coach Erik Jenkins departs program for USF

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky Track and Field Head Coach Erik Jenkins is leaving the Hill to take the head coaching position at the University of South Florida.

Jenkins, a Florida native and graduate of WKU, served as an assistant for the Tops for eight years before being named head coach of the men’s and women’s track and field teams on January 1, 2008.

During his 11 years as head coach, Jenkins helped lead the Tops to 30 combined conference championships between cross country and track and field.

Under Jenkins, WKU had 48 individuals and 14 relay teams earn All-American honors.

At the conference level – Sun Belt and Conference USA – Jenkins led the Hilltoppers to 176 individual event titles and 24 relay titles.
