Monique Pearson, a WKU senior, reflects on her journey.
Pearson says, “When I first came to school, I majored in marketing. Then I changed it because I’ve always loved fashion, and I think it’s just amazing how everybody can express themselves and be themselves through clothing.”
The opportunity to attend New York Fashion Week allows students to draw inspiration and take their passion for fashion into the broader world.
Channing Hardin, another senior, is excited about the diverse career paths available, saying, “Being able to explore different career choices, like, not only can I get into fashion merchandising, but I can be a buyer, a stylist, or a designer. I think this degree just opens up the fashion world for me, which I love.”
The experience of attending Fashion Week is not only transformative for these students but also has a broader impact.
Howard underscores the significance of these experiences, saying, “These moments are really what make a difference because I get to introduce them to my contacts. I get to open doors for them that, you know, otherwise wouldn’t be opened. It really means something special that our students are coming from this part of the country and this part of the world.”
For these WKU students, New York Fashion Week represents a pivotal moment in their careers, with the potential to shape their futures in extraordinary ways.
