WKU students host suicide awareness walk
BOWLING GREEN, Ky – The annual Out of Darkness Walk is back this Saturday on Western’s campus.
The event raises awareness for suicide prevention and is a branch of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Participants are encouraged to raise money and advocate.
While Out of the Darkness is a student-led event, those in the Bowling Green community are welcomed. Attendees can write words of hope and wear honor beads to show support.
Out of the Darkness co-chair, Jada Peterson, shares why this cause is important to her. She believes “society should all advocate for each other” more often. Peterson urges to “not wait for something to happen to finally speak out.”
