WKU Soccer Closes Out Preseason Play at University of the Cumberlands

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Soccer wraps up preseason play with an exhibition match at the University of the Cumberlands on Friday, Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. (CT).

ABOUT THE TOPS

  • Friday’s match is the last of two preseason exhibitions for the Hilltoppers. WKU faced Chattanooga on Monday, Aug. 5 in the first friendly of the season. The two teams played to a 0-0 tie.
  • WKU will officially open the 2024 season on the road, facing Austin Peay on Thursday, Aug. 15. The first home match of the season will come on Thursday, Aug. 22 against Union (Tenn.) at 7 p.m.
  • The Hilltoppers return 17 players from the 2023 season and welcomed two transfers and seven freshmen. Among the returners are 2023 starting goalkeeper Maddie Davis, second-leading scorer Kayla Meyer and defensive starters Aspen Seaich, Kendall Wade and Lily Rummo.
  • WKU was picked to finish third in the preseason Conference USA coaches poll. Liberty was picked first and New Mexico State was selected second. The Hilltoppers finished third in Conference USA last season with a 4-2-2 record in conference play. The Hilltoppers were 6-5-7 overall. The seven ties were a school and CUSA record.
