WKU Soccer adds transfer for 2024

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Soccer has announced the addition of Mia Merritt to the 2024 roster. Merritt is a transfer from North Texas who will be entering her junior year in 2024.

“We are excited to add Mia Merritt to our roster for the upcoming season,” said Neidell. “Mia is an athletic and fast center back with a very high ceiling. Mia has a winning pedigree and, with her experience, will be able to hit the ground running as a Hilltopper.”

Merritt played defender for two seasons for the Mean Green. In that time, she played in close to 30 games and made 11 starts.

The Austin, Texas native went to Lake Travis High School. Merritt led the team to three district championships and was named All-State 6-A Defense (2020), State ODP Team (2016-19), Academic All-District First Team and All-Central Texas Starting XI Defense (2021).

At the club level, Merritt played with the Lonestar Soccer Club for seven years.

Merritt is the 10th newcomer for the WKU Soccer team. The Hilltoppers will feature 17 returners on the 2024 squad. WKU unofficially kicks off the 2024 season on Aug. 5 against Chattnooga in a preseason exhibition match at the WKU Soccer Complex.
