WKU selects 2 local students for top competitive academic scholarship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Two local students have been selected as 2026-2027 WKU Cherry Presidential Scholarship recipients.
The Cherry Presidential Scholarship is the university’s most prestigious academic award, valued at $16,000 annually and worth $64,000 over four years.
According to WKU’s website, students with a minimum 3.8 unweighted high school GPA and a minimum composite 30 ACT (1360 SAT) qualify.
16 students were awarded the scholarship.
Two local students received the scholarship:
- Ethan Gallagher of Bowling Green, a senior at Bowling Green High School, plans to major in Visual Journalism and Photography in the Potter College of Arts & Letters.
- Brayden Johnson of Bee Spring, a senior at Edmonson County High School, plans to major in Biology in the Ogden College of Science & Engineering.
