WKU recognized for affordable health information academic programs
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky University’s online program that leads to a bachelor of science degree in health information management was ranked as the 25th most affordable in the nation by Blackboard, an online learning system.
Health information management deals with a spectrum of technology functions from billing services to the design and security of electronic medical records.
Professor Jan Hunt-Shepherd, the program’s director, said other advantages are the convenience and accessibility the totally online format gives. While the anatomy and physiology class is not currently available online at WKU, it is available in an online format at KCTCS schools which can be transferred back to WKU.
The job outlook for healthcare it is looking good. Demand for professionals in the field is expected to grow nationally at a rate of 20% through the year 2023.
